For more than 30 years the Latin American Association of Insurance Agencies has held an annual charity campaign benefiting Holtz Children’s Hospital Child Life Services department! Holtz serves an average of 70 pediatric patients on a day-to-day basis providing a range of services including Bone Marrow and Organ Transplants, Cancer Treatments and Trauma Injuries. The Child Life Services department at Holtz is vital to patients and their families going above and beyond the hospital’s clinical capabilities. Child Life mainly focuses on patient advocacy, quality of life services, as well as unique therapy, approaches incorporating music and art.

Your generosity has allowed the LAAIA to help fund many of these valuable resources in addition to the LAAIA’s annual Holiday gift delivery with Santa and our Annual Easter Basket delivery with a visit from the Easter bunny too!

The LAAIA has committed to raising $150,000 over the next several years to the Child Life Services department and has been recognized with naming rights to a state-of-the-art LAAIA Creative Arts Activity Studio at Holtz Children’s Hospital. This activity studio serves as the hub for many of the resources provided by Child Life Services. One of its major features is a fully functional recording studio where pediatric patients are able to write, play, record, and produce songs alongside Music Therapists to help them express and cope with their respective medical conditions. Another area is dedicated to creative arts. Kids now have the opportunity to sit with volunteer artists and create meaningful drawings, paintings, and craft projects. C.A.M.P. Caregivers is a parent and caregiver support group that meets weekly in the Creative Arts Studio. It allows parents and guardians of the patients to engage in emotional support with others who are dealing with similar circumstances. This is done through creative writing, songwriting, music-assisted relaxation, or playing instruments. This is a very special benefit for patients and their families unable to be home during the holidays.
